The protesting Bulgarian farmers are currently coming out with demands that have been resolved, or those that cannot be resolved because deadlines are being set that cannot be met. Some of them are related to the approvals of the European Commission and we cannot skip them, commented Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov.

"The problem they have raised about imports from Ukraine has been solved. I said very clearly that when they are ready for a constructive dialogue, they should give a signal and we will meet. They have so far refused two meetings. I will not invite them until they they don't say "we are ready to meet". Bulgaria must make decisions according to its own national interests" emphasized Denkov.
Agriculture Minister Kiril Vatev again invited the protesters to negotiations and stated that after the European Commission lifted the ban on imports from Ukraine, negotiations would be held with Kyiv to hold back exports to Bulgaria until the goods, quantities and mechanisms for licensing regimes were fully specified. Clarifying the details of these negotiations cannot be done without the participation of the branch organizations, Vatev explains.
