Ministry of Health strengthens cooperation with WHO in disease prevention in Bulgaria

The Ministry of Health will strengthen its cooperation with the World Health Organization (WHO) in the field of disease prevention and health promotion in Bulgaria, the ministry's press office said. 


At a meeting with Dr. Hans Kluge, WHO Regional Director for Europe, Minister Hristo Hinkov stressed that the priority of Bulgaria's Ministry of Health is to make people aware of the importance of early prevention and building healthy habits and health culture among young people. Highlights of the conversation included the importance of mental health and psychiatric care, improving maternal and child health and paediatric care and collaboration with UNICEF on key interventions and activities related to early childhood development and adolescent health. 


The recognition of medical diplomas of Ukrainian citizens who have found refuge in Bulgaria was also discussed. In this regard, Dr Kluge pledged that his team would share the experience of Poland. Finally, the digitalization of health care was discussed, which according to the two officials will be essential for the development of our health care system.
