The arts festival Apollonia is taking place in Sozopol from 28 August until 5 September. By a tradition, the annual award Apollo Toxoforos will be awarded during the vibrant culture forum in the seaside town – this time it goes to the supergroup The Foundation. The supergroup includes musicians from several legendary Bulgarian rock formations, who perform their greatest hits as well as new acoustic arrangements. For more than 10 years The Foundation has been popular among several generations of fans.
In an interview with the BNR’s Silvia Choleva, the director of the Apllonia festival Margarita Dimitrova explains why the choice for the Apollo Toxoforos award fell on the Foundation:
“This year we are awarding it to the supergroup The Foundation. The award is presented for contribution to Bulgarian culture and its popularization abroad. Just take a look at the world tour they had – The Foundation, the entire band we all love! We are proud they are with us here every year. From their very first concert, from the first year they got together they have always been with us. So, it was quite natural to award them the Apollo Toxoforos this year.”
The award ceremony is on 5 September, when the musicians will have a concert, as part of the Apollonia festival, and will present a new programme. They will also take part in The Price of Success, a regular festival feature.
