The new chapel to St. Archangel Michael over the village of Dabnitsa near Garmen will be consecrated today, announced Simeon Chekov, who is one of the initiators of its construction.

The construction of the chapel began in 2020 with the donations of many people and the labor of residents from all over the surrounding area. Three years later, it already has an iconostasis, an altar, a throne - everything needed to perform divine services, baptisms, and weddings in it. The space around the temple has also been improved with recreation areas, a children's playground, alleys, and the road to the holy place is ready.

In the past there was a fortress in the area, and on the top, archaeologists studying the area around Dabnitsa discovered the foundations of an old church. Near the archaeological site there is an ayazmo, and now a large chapel, where the laity can say their prayers, light a candle and rest, says Simeon Chekov.

The foundation stone in the altar of the chapel was placed by Metropolitan Seraphim of Nevrokop, who will consecrate the already finished temple.

The celebration will begin at 6:00 a.m. with the Divine Liturgy, and for those wishing to attend, free transportation is provided at 05:45 a.m. from the center of the village.
