Bulgaria is suspending the liquidation of the air ambulance company Bulgaria Heli Med Service, announced earlier by the caretaker cabinet, said Georgi Gvozdeykov, minister of transport and communications, who is a former member of the company's board of directors.

The project is fully financed under the Recovery and Resilience Plan, where the parameters are clearly and categorically defined by the European Union, and European regulations must be strictly respected, the minister pointed out. A few days ago, Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov assured that Bulgaria will receive its first medical helicopter in early 2024. About 90 medics have already been trained in the country.

Bulgaria is the only EU country that does not have emergency helicopters.
