Bulgaria has received 40 migrants from Cyprus under the EU Voluntary Solidarity Mechanism. Nicosia wants to speed up the resettlement of migrants from the island to other EU member states through the EU Voluntary Solidarity Mechanism, in order to tackle the refugee flow.

40 migrants have been successfully relocated to Bulgaria. The last group comprising 12 migrants departed from Cyprus on Monday, the press center of the Ministry of Interior said for the BNR. In September 2022, Bulgaria expressed its intention to receive 100-150 migrants from Cyprus.
