Enthusiasts run to Musala Peak

Today, a mountain running competition Rila Run 2023 will be held in Rila Mountain from Samokov to the highest peak in Bulgaria, Musala - 21 km, and a shortened distance Samokov-Yastrebets - 14 km. The start is at 09.00 a.m. Over 100 mountain athletes have announced their participation.

The winner in 2022 was Ivaylo Atanasov, who completed the distance in 02:27:55.

The record for the 21 km route from the town of Samokov to Musala peak is 2:12:34 and was set by the mountain running champion Shaban Mustafa in 2015, while the women's record of 2:55:55 is held by Maya Nedyalkova from the same year 2015.

Bulgaria's first peak rises 2,925 m above sea level.
