State of alert declared in Haskovo region over wildfires

A state of alert has been declared in Haskovo region because of 8 big wildfires which are difficult to put under control because of high temperatures and strong winds.

Three houses have burnt down in Georgi Dobrevo village. In Oryahovo the fire is around a photovoltaic park, and in Dubovets village, Lyubimets municipality the wildfire has affected woodland. Help is expected from four neighbouring regions, and from the army. No people have been injured to date.

There were fires during the night in Burgas region, with the fire starting from Karnobat region and spreading to more than 200 hectares of land, affecting the villages: Venets, Dobrinovo, Grozden, Tserkovski, Suedinenie, Zavet, Beronovo. The fire swept through Sungurlare and reached the residential areas of Burgas Cherno More and Rudnik. The fires have been localized, there is no danger or re-ignition, the authorities say.
