The BSP have submitted to the National Assembly over 208,000 signatures for a referendum against gender ideology in schools. For three months, citizens have signed a petition to ban propaganda related to gender reassignment among children and students.

Collected signatures exceed the threshold of 200,000, in order for the topic to be discussed in the parliament and for the MPs to decide whether to call a referendum. The leader of the leftist party, Korneliya Ninova, however, expressed doubts that the majority would allow such a referendum, given the recent rejection of a  proposed referendum on the euro adoption.
