"I spoke with a number of experts who are adamant that there is no pollution in the Black Sea. The information that has appeared is part of a negative campaign that is not based on facts. I can responsibly state to the world that the Black Sea is clean and there is no cause for any worries, people can safely go on vacation at your coastline", Julia Simpson, president and CEO of the World Tourism and Travel Council (WTTC) told the 24 Hours daily.

"Our data for Bulgaria indicate that in 2019 tourism revenues reached 7.369 billion euros. During the coronavirus pandemic, revenue dropped by 60%. In 2022 there is a strong recovery, revenues are over 5 billion euros. In 2023, we expect the recovery in the sector to be 75%, revenues to reach 5.7 billion euros and 17,500 jobs to be created, with the total number of employees being 287,000. The contribution of tourism to the country's GDP should reach 6.5%. 90% of the revenue comes from foreign tourists", Simpson adds.
