The lighting of fire on the territory of the Rila National Park has been forbidden by the Bulgarian authorities. The lighting of open fires and the performance of fire activities are prohibited, including in the recreation areas and designated places for lighting fires. The ban is in effect until October 31, 2023.

The Bulgarian Mountain Rescue Service urges tourists to be careful when handling fire in the mountains.

The forest fire near the village of Bukovo close to Parvomay has been localized. Firefighters, soldiers and volunteers have brought under control the fire that broke out on Sunday in the difficult-to-access rough terrain. The mayor of the village, Ali Bajakli, stated that the cause of the forest fire was the heat and it was not a matter of negligence.
