Forestry workers from the State Forestry Unit- Ihtiman, Southwestern State Forestry Enterprise, took part in a rescue operation of a 3 or 4 month old bear cub. It was spotted near the villa zone of the village of Kostenets on Sunday afternoon.

A villa owner alerted forestry workers who chased the bear cub back into the woods hoping that its mother would find it. Later, the bear cup descended the area again and climbed a tree, where it spent the night. In the morning it entered another property. The forest workers searched the woods, but didn’t find the mother. The bear cub was rescued by forest workers and representatives of WWF - Bulgaria. The animal will be taken to the Bear Sanctuary Belitsa. If the mother is found, the bear cub will be returned to its natural habitat.
