Fans of jazz music gather again in Bulgaria’s capital Sofia in early July. One of the most important music forums in the country “A to Jazz” started as a jazz festival. However, it has gradually evolved to a festival for urban culture. The 12th edition of the festival is now held on four consecutive days- from July 6 (Thursday) until July 9 (Sunday). The festival was founded with the mission to spread and promote jazz, world and improvised music among young people. This year the focus of the festival is broadened. In addition to more than 25 concerts by musicians from different continents, the festive programme includes various activities such as an international showcase module for emerging artists, jam sessions, an art bazaar, a professional mini-conference entitled “A to Jazz Talks”, workshops, sports activities, etc.

The first festive evening starts with a bang with eight bands from Belgium, Serbia, Greece, Hungary, Congo, France, Romania and Bulgaria. Gergana Dimitrova-Belonoga will also take part at the festive programme. She is known for her participation at the” Mystery of the Bulgarian Voices”. Gergana is one of the founders of “Eva Quartet”. Gergana Dimitrova successfully developed her independent career with the project “Belonoga”.
