This government cannot survive long if GERB continues with floating majorities, says Kiril Petkov

There is no way this parliament can continue if GERB continues with floating majorities. This is not only a warning, but a call that they are introducing a huge risk into the political system. "We Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria" (PP-DB) to be at the front like a fig leaf, and they at the back for the important things for society to push through with other majorities. This was stated in the parliament by the co-chairman of the PP Kiril Petkov.

The reason for the comment is the last meeting of the legal commission, where the hearing of Justice Minister Atanas Slavov was blocked by the votes of GERB-SDS, MRF and Vazrazhdane.

Petkov added that there is also a problem with the amendments to the Anti-Corruption Act introduced by GERB-SDS, which were passed in the first reading. It posits a conflict of interest between the parties and their representatives in the anti-corruption commission.

GERB leader Boyko Borisov said he hated comparisons like fig leaves. "They clearly said we only want GERB to support the government. They appointed ministers, prime ministers, we gave them the mandate, they violated everything, now they want to deprive us of the right to vote on our law, which is better," he said.

They propose these laws and seek a majority for them, explained Borissov. "That's how the parliamentary republic works, where there are 240 deputies and where you have to make a majority. To have 121 votes, compromises have to be made. With 63 MPs, the PP-DB want to command 240 MPs," stressed Borisov and accused the PP-DB of purging the administration and placing their own staff everywhere.
