Prosecutors have called for an election procedure for new chief prosecutor to be opened at the plenary session of the Supreme Judicial Council on June 22. According to the proposal of members of the collegium, the hearing of the candidates and the voting itself should be held on October 26. The members of the Prosecutor's collegium referred to the law on judicial power, according to which, within a week after the termination of the mandate of the chief prosecutor, a procedure for the election of a new one must be opened.

Meanwhile, acting Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov issued an order closing the Expert Council at the Prosecutor General. The Council was established by Ivan Geshev in May 2020 and was attended by representatives of the law and former magistrates.
