In 2024, the last remaining homes for children will close, Minister of Labor and Social Policy Ivanka Shalapatova has told bTV. Another serious task is closing of homes for the elderly and people with mental problems and replacing them with smaller homes in the community, which will allow for providing individual care by specialists, Shalapatova said.

Violence against women and children remains a very serious problem. Since the beginning of the year, 351 children have sought protection and reported violence, the minister pointed out. Shalapatova called on people to try to help if they witnessed violence or at least report it to the competent authorities.
