At a meeting with the European Commissioner for Budget and Administration Johannes Hahn, who was on a visit to Bulgaria, Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov and Deputy Prime Minister Mariya Gabriel indicated that the main priority of the government was Bulgaria's accession to Schengen this year.

For his part, European Commissioner Johannes Hahn welcomed the formation of a regular Bulgarian government with a clear European orientation and promised support from the EC.
Next week, the European Commission is expected to publish an overview of the Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) of the European Union, which sets the upper limits of the Union's spending from 2021 to 2027. The creation of a European Sovereignty Fund is planned which will finance companies working in areas with high potential such as green technology and biotechnology and the transition to a digital economy. Greater flexibility in the use of funds from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) will also be introduced.
