Police launch children's road safety initiative

From today until the end of August the Traffic Police will conduct its traditional action "Vacation! Let's keep children safe on the road". According to Chief Inspector Lachezar Bliznakov from the Traffic Police Department with the National Police General Directorate, five children died and 356 others were injured on Bulgarian roads during the same period last year.

Control measures will be taken in areas where kindergartens and schools are located, as well as in small settlements. The police will be uncompromising with drivers who violate the rules for transporting children.

Because of the heavy traffic, a "Safe Summer" campaign aimed at reducing road accidents will also be running from 15 June to 14 September.
