The annual mountain biking race is to take place in Apriltsi on 10 June, 2023. The extreme bike race combines biking with getting to know the beauty of the Central Balkan Range. Besides being a challenge physically, the biking adventure will also offer breathtaking views of the mountain ridges, lots of fresh air and shady beech woodland.
The participants will cover a distance of 39 kms., for children it is 8 kms. There is a shorter route for contestants who do not feel up to such a stiff challenge. The biking routes are varied, traversing dirt roads and forest trails; there are asphalt sections as well.
By a tradition, the bike race takes place at the beginning of summer, signaling the start of the active season in the region, popular as a mountain and alternative tourism destination.
The message the event wants to convey this year is to protect nature, that is why the participants are called upon not to litter.
Besides all the emotions that go with a bike race, BIKE/andzhii 2023 is also offering a gastronomical programme. Contestants and guests will be able to taste of the home made pastries, cocoa delights and hot chocolate, as well as local craft beer. The participants will receive branded souvenirs, and the organizers say they will remain true to their style and there will be music and dancing right up until the end of the race. Right after the award ceremony, a concert by Tsunami Rock Band will begin, followed an hour later by Atlas.
The party will take place in the new park in Apriltsi’s Ostrets residential area, as a matter of fact it will be its official opening. The park, located right next to the town square near the river, has sports fields – for football, volleyball, basketball and tennis, as well as children’s playgrounds and gazebos. The day will end with the now traditional evening DJ party at the swimming pool of one of the hotels in the town.
