Bulgarian National Radio employees took to the streets to protest for dignified wages. Protests were held both in the capital and in regional radio stations. In Sofia, a key intersection near the radio building was closed for an hour.

BNR's Director General Milen Mitev joined the protesters.

The main demand was for an urgent increase in funding for BNR in the 2023 budget to make possible a 25% pay rise to cover inflation accumulated since 2021. "It is unacceptable for people working in such a prestigious organisation to receive monthly salaries of around €450," the protesters said.

The rally was organised jointly with the structures of the two largest trade unions - the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria and the Trade Union "Podkrepa", as well as the Union of Bulgarian Radio Journalists.
