MPs welcome the decision for the dismissal of Prosecutor General Geshev

The proposal of the members of the Prosecutors' College to the Supreme Judicial Council for early dismissal of Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev was welcomed in the National Assembly.

Speaking to journalists in the parliament, Atanas Slavov, a lawmaker from "We Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria", said that this decision would speed up the release of the prosecutor general while not influencing the coalition's decision not to support a GERB-SDS government with the first mandate.

For his part, National Assembly Speaker Rosen Zhelyazkov of GERB called for all actions to be strictly subordinated to the laws and the Constitution of the country, because the opposite, even if it is very well politically justified, will create precedents that will echo for a long time," Zhelyazkov said.

Kostadin Kostadinov, the leader of "Vazrazhdane", was rather sceptical and commented that this is being done to prevent "We Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria" from supporting GERB, as this is the main demand of the second political force. Philip Stanev, MP from "There is Such a People", for his part welcomed the proposal of the members of the Prosecutorial College for the early dismissal of the Prosecutor General.
