Sanctions are being put in place for violations of the new roaming regulations, public service TV BNT reports.

The Council of Ministers endorsed amendments to the law on electronic communications obligating mobile phone operators not to apply wholesale prices in servicing roaming emergency calls. Any breach of the provision entails fines of EUR 200,000-1 million. If roaming clients are inadequately informed by operators of access modes to emergency services in the EU country visited, the sanctions for the service providers will amount to EUR 5,000-50,000. The amendments also envisage the introduction of the BG-ALERT public warning system regarding emergencies and disasters.
