Bulgaria is making efforts to be ready to adopt the euro no later than January 1, 2025, the Ministry of Finance said in connection with media publications related to the topic. The country's preparations and progress towards Eurozone membership were discussed at the meetings of Finance Minister Rositsa Velkova with Eurogroup President Paschal Donohue and European Commissioner Valdis Dombrovskis on April 28 and 29 in Stockholm. They also discussed the country’s budget deficit and ways to curb inflation.
The topic of postponing the introduction of the euro in Bulgaria after 1 January 2025 was not raised, the Finance Ministry noted. The Ministry of Finance considers unacceptable the dissemination of fake news and contradictory messages in the media.
