The parliamentary group of Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) for Bulgaria has submitted, to the National Assembly, a draft decision for a 6-month ban on the import of farming produce – wheat, sunflower, powdered milk and apiculture products.
This is taking place just days after Agriculture Minister in the caretaker cabinet Yavor Gechev stated that Bulgaria was considering banning the import of Ukrainian grain, following the example of Poland and Hungary.
“We have an obligation to protect the Bulgarian national interest, Bulgarian agriculture and production, and the health of the citizens. We demand that this be one of the first decisions by parliament,” said BSP leader Kornelyia Ninova as she submitted the draft.
