Georgi Gospodinov’s Time Shelter shortlisted for the Booker prize

Georgi Gospodinov’s novel Time Shelter has entered the shortlist of 6 books for the international Booker prize, Leila Slimani, chair of the jury and winner of the Goncourt prize has announced. Georgi Gospodinov is the first Bulgarian writer to have been nominated for one of the most prestigious literary awards in the world. The book is translated into English by Angela Rodel.

“A wide-ranging, thought-provoking, macabre and humorous novel about nationality, identity and ageing, and about the healing and destructive power of memory,” the panel wrote about Time Shelter.  

The winner will be announced on 23 May at an official ceremony in London and will receive £ 50,000 to be split with the translator.
