Parliament continues work on the election of speaker

Today's work of the National Assembly will begin as a continuation of the first plenary day after the MPs failed to elect their speaker on Wednesday, April 12. The two nominations - of Rosen Zhelyazkov from GERB-SDS and of Petar Petrov from "Vazrazhdane" - were rejected.

After it became clear that once again there is a problem with the election of the speaker of the parliament, the leader of GERB Boyko Borisov proposed that the presidency be taken over by the first political force - GERB. Assen Vassilev from the “We Continue the Change-DB” said the two largest coalitions should nominate chairmen who alternate every two months.

The situation was similar in the previous parliament, in which the MPs needed three days to elect president of the assembly.
