Sofia City Prosecutor’s Office says Serbia is not observing European Convention on Extradition in connection with Nexo

The Sofia City Prosecutor’s Office has forwarded information to Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev regarding non-observance of international accords under the European Convention on Extradition connected with the company Nexo, the BNR reports. The information concerns non-observance, by Serbia, of a request for provisional arrest for the co-founders of the crypto company Nexo Antoni Trenchev and Kosta Kantchev, charged with participation in an organized crime group, money laundering, tax fraud, computer crime and operating without a banking license. On Friday, Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev announced that Antoni Trenchev and Kosta Kantchev had landed in Belgrade from Dubai. On 31 March a European arrest warrant against them was issued, a prosecutor’s office press release reads. On 7 April, according to Interpol information, Antoni Trenchev and Kosta Kantchev stated they were “victims of a politically motivated smear campaign in the course of the election campaign in Bulgaria”. Interpol has requested additional information from Bulgaria. Such information has been provided.
