President Rumen Radev convenes the first session of the newly elected 49th National Assembly on April 12, Wednesday at 10 a.m., the press office of the head of state announced. Radev issued the decree on the first working day after the Central Election Commission announced the names of the new MPs.

According to the constitution, the president has a month after the date of the election to call the people's representatives to a first meeting. But President Radev said he had no intentions of prolonging the constitutional procedure for consultations with the parliamentary groups and handing over mandates to form a government.

Vezhdi Rashidov from GERB will open the first session of the parliament. At 71, he is the oldest Bulgarian MP.
