As of 11:30 am the Central Election Commission has received reports of 45 malfunctioning machines across the country.

Speaking to the media, CEC spokesperson Rositsa Mateva pointed out that the number of defective machines in the 2 October elections was 32, and in the 14 November 2021 elections - about 67.

Mateva also commented on the reports that the ballot papers for machine voting were not stamped. She reminded that the Election Code stipulates that a stamp be placed on each ballot printed by the machine and urged polling stations staff to do so. As for ballots dropped without a stamp in the ballot boxes, they will be counted as a valid vote, Mateva clarified.

Three hours later, the number of malfunctioning machines rose to 60 after 15 more gave a fault.
