“EU’s comprehensive support for Ukraine needs to continue,” said Bulgaria’s Deputy Foreign Minister Velislava Petrova before the regular EU Foreign Affairs Council in Brussels. Deputy Minister Petrova also noted Bulgaria’s support for Ukraine’s European perspective, urging reform and fulfillment of the criteria.

“Bulgaria’s caretaker government is not preparing a new agreement for  providing Ukraine with additional military and military-technical assistance,” said Dimitar Stoyanov, Defence Minister in Bulgaria’s caretaker cabinet in Brussels, where he took part in a meeting discussing sending 155 mm. artillery shells to Ukraine. “Bulgaria is not part of this joint procurement and there is no way it can be. The Bulgarian army does not have weapons that can use this caliber,” Minister Stoyanov said. He added that the state-owned factories Terem do not manufacture ammunition of this caliber. “The VMZ machinebuilding plants Emko and Transmobile, these are Bulgarian companies, private and state-owned that have that capability. The Bulgarian army is supplying what it is able to supply. We are below the stock standard so there is no way additional military aid can be provided,” Minister Stoyanov said.
