Bulgaria's chief prosecutor Ivan Geshev has demanded from the interior and regional ministers all information relating to irregularities in the construction and maintenance of roads. The information must be provided as soon as possible, the prosecutor's office explains.

In its reasoning, the institution refers to media allegations of irregularities in the construction and repair of highways and sections of the republican road network, including the Sofia's Northern Express Tangent and the Hemus highway.

The prosecution assures that upon establishing sufficient data on committed crimes, the materials will be sent to the competent prosecutor's offices.

Bulgaria's Minister of Internal Affairs, Ivan Demerdzhiev, said yesterday on BNR that today the Ministry of the Interior expected to have more information about the results of the inspections and the initiated pre-trial proceedings relating to poor road construction.
