President Rumen Radev attended the Todorovden celebrations in Tsaratsovo village near Plovdiv where the official start was given to horse racing season.
President Radev stated that today’s feast day was a symbol of Bulgarians’ impulse for freedom. “There are a number of customs and traditions which our nation has preserved through the ages, and it is the colourfulness and the authenticity of the horse races that make them one of the best-loved traditions. They are our bond with our ancestors who have won glorious victories thanks to their riding skills,” he said.
The celebrations began with a holy water blessing ceremony. The festive programme included a reenactment of the Todorovden traditions, including horse racing.
