Greece declares three days of national mourning after deadly train crash

Greece's transport minister, Kostas Karamanlis, has resigned after the deadly train crash on the Athens-Thessaloniki line early this morning that claimed more than 40 lives. 

The crash involved a head-on collision between a passenger train and a freight train after being left to move on the same track. The first three carriages of the passenger train were completely burnt to ashes. 

A three-day national mourning has been declared in the country.

Two Bulgarians were traveling in the train. According to Nova TV, they are in good condition. Anton Markov, Consul General of Bulgaria in Thessaloniki, told the BNR that the Bulgarian diplomatic representation is in constant contact with the local authorities.
