The percentage of foreign students attending higher education in Bulgaria has doubled in 2022 - from 4 to 8%, compared to 2013. This is shown by the data of the National Map of Higher Education in Bulgaria.

Bulgaria ranks among the first in the EU in terms of the share of foreign medical students, namely 58%. Other majors preferred by foreigners are dentistry, veterinary medicine, music and dance, shipping and aviation. Most of the young people are from Italy, India, Great Britain, Greece, Japan and the USA.

Students from these countries choose Bulgaria because of the high quality of education and low prices. Fees for students from EU countries are between €300 and €1900, while those for students from non-EU countries range from €1800 to €4000.
