Bulgaria on the Road to the Euro to be discussed in Sofia

Bulgaria on the Road to the Euro is the title of a high-level conference, orgainzed by the Ministry of Finance, will be held today at the National Palace of Culture in Sofia.

Among the invited guests and participants are Bulgarian President Rumen Radev, Prime Minister Galab Donev, Executive Vice-President of the European Commission Valdis Dombrovskis, Bulgarian National Bank Governor Dimitar Radev, Croatian Minister of Finance Marko Primorac, high-ranking representatives of European institutions and of the Bulgarian NGO sector.

The forum will discuss the opportunities and challenges Bulgaria faces in becoming a member of the euro area, what the process of the upcoming introduction of the euro as the national currency involves, etc.

On Thursday, 23 February, Dombrovskis pointed to 1 January 2025 as a possible date for Bulgaria to join the euro area.
