At the Fireman of the Year ceremony in Sofia, President Rumen Radev presented the President's Badge of Honour to the Bulgarian rescue teams who participated in the relief operations after the devastating earthquakes in Turkey on February 6.

The President congratulated them, saying that Bulgaria is a country with efficient institutions that are able to rapidly mobilise and act. "I am convinced that with people like you Bulgaria will prosper," Rumen Radev stressed.

Turkish Ambassador Aylin Sekizkok joined the ceremony to express her country's gratitude to the Bulgarian support in the rescue efforts.

"You, dear friends, were a light in our saddest night. You saved our sons and daughters from the devastation. You have taken a special place in the hearts of Turkish people," said the Turkish diplomat.
