The Quasar Center of Competence has presented the National Plan for Quantum Communication Infrastructure. It is the most secure way to exchange sensitive data between institutions and businesses. The plan is part of the European initiative EuroQCI, which is building a unified quantum communication network in the EU.

Assoc. Prof. Lachezar Georgiev, head of the Bulgarian project, told BNR that quantum communication is important because of the development of quantum computers, which could easily break even the most advanced encryption. He recalled that an experimental quantum connection has already been conducted in Bulgaria.

"We plan to build a quantum-secured star-type network - one hub and many users connected by optical fiber beams," says the scientist.
