Weather forecast for Bulgaria Sunday, February 5

Snowfall and freezing temperatures

Over the next 24 hours, cold air from the north-northeast with moderate to strong winds will blow into eastern Bulgaria. It will be mostly cloudy. Rain will change to snow across the country. Significant snow showers will fall overnight in northern Bulgaria and in mountainous areas. During the day, snow will accumulate in the foothills and eastern areas. Blizzard and snowfall conditions remain in the Dobrudja and Ludogorie regions and in mountain passes. Temperatures will be falling and by 2pm in most of the country prevailing temperatures will be between minus 4° and 1°C.

It will be cloudy and foggy over the mountains. In many places there will be snow showers, more significant in the Central Balkan Mountains, Strandzha and in places in the Rilo-Rhodope area. Strong winds will blow along the ridges with gusts from the north-northeast. Drifts will form in the mountain passes. The maximum temperature at an altitude of 1,200 m will be about minus 8°C, at 2,000 m - about minus 13°C.

Over the Black Sea coast it will be cloudy, rain will change to snow. It will be windy, with strong northeast wind. Maximum temperatures will be from minus 1° to 3° and the sea water temperature will be 7-8°. The sea swell will be 4-5.
