According to the decision, on the fourth Saturday of November, the memory of the victims of the Great Famine in Ukraine will be commemorated.

According to the Parliament, any denial, justification and trivialising of this genocide shall be regarded as an act of dishonouring the memory of the millions of people who died in the Holodomor, the BTA reports.

According to various estimates, between 7 and 8 million people died of starvation during the Holodomor, 3-3.5 million of them in Ukraine, 2 million in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, and 2-2.5 million in the Russian Federation.
