During the Agriculture and Fisheries Council in Brussels, Bulgarian Deputy Minister of Agriculture Georgi Sabev insisted on temporary emergency measures to support farmers affected by market disturbances.
Sabev pointed out that the livestock sector was heavily affected and because of the high costs there were many difficulties and lower production in the dairy sector. Special attention must also be paid to guaranteeing the food security of the population and the real possibility of an additional increase in the price of the manufactured products, according to the Industrial Emissions Directive.
The topic of labeling honey mixtures was also discussed at the meeting. Georgi Sabev explained that the clear designation of the countries of origin would be a guarantee for the quality and safety of honey. Speaking on the topic of bioeconomy, Deputy Minister Sabev pointed out that Bulgaria continues to actively promote bio-production, the utilization of residues from primary agricultural production, the processing industry, as well as the use of energy from renewable energy sources.
