Bulgaria’s caretaker Minister of Interior Ivan Demerdzhiev and the Chairman of the State Agency for National Security Plamen Tonchev are expected to visit Skopje on January 30. They will discuss the organisation of the upcoming commemoration of the 151st birth anniversary of revolutionary Gotse Delchev, and joint actions to ensure a secure environment for the celebrations on February 4.

The meeting will start at 12 pm local time at the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of North Macedonia. Press statements are expected after its conclusion.

The talks come after the assault against Hristian Pendikov in Ohrid. Bulgaria summoned its ambassador to North Macedonia, Angel Angelov, for consultations in Sofia. Meanwhile, North Macedonia’s President Stevo Pendarovski has proposed to the government of North Macedonia that “one MEP from Bulgaria and several other persons from Bulgaria be banned from entering the country, because of their previous and ongoing actions against North Macedonia”.
