Bulgaria’s National Assembly adopted on first and second reading a bill to ratify the Acquisition and Mutual Services Agreement between the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Bulgaria and the U.S. Department of Defence. It establishes the basic principles and procedures to facilitate the mutual provision of logistics assurance. For more than 20 years, an Acquisition and Cross-servicing Agreement has been in force between the Bulgarian Ministry of Defence and the US Department of Defense.

"Vazrazhdane" party and the Bulgarian Socialist Party had reservations about the document. According to “Vazrazhdane” MP Nikolay Drenchev, the agreement is more beneficial to the United States. According to BSP, “Bulgaria is ratifying an agreement with a country that is not fulfilling its legal obligations”, referring to the delivery of fighter aircraft which has been delayed.
