Bulgaria will rely on assistance from US in connection with Nexo investigation, prosecutor general says

“Nexo is a Swiss company and it is registered in Switzerland which means the National Revenue Agency cannot check up, in Switzerland, on any company,” Boris Mihaylov, head of the National Revenue Agency stated in parliament.

Answering a question about the information that Democratic Bulgaria has been financed by the cryptobank, he pointed out that the donors of the coalition who were employed by or who are currently working for Nexo, can be subject to a tax inspection. Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev, on his part stated that data was currently being collected regarding Nexo which will be handed over to the US. “In accordance with the requests for legal aid procedure I am sure we shall be given swift and competent assistance,” he added.

Four people have been charged in connection with the Nexo investigation, two are wanted internationally, the other two have been released on bail amounting to 1 million Leva each.
