Amendments to the Labour Migration and Labor Mobility Act to facilitate the issuance of Blue Card

At an extraordinary session, the National Assembly Committee on Labour, Social and Demographic Policy adopted at second reading amendments to the Labour Migration and Labour Mobility Act. The amendments will facilitate access to Bulgaria’s labour market for highly qualified professionals from non-EU countries, and the issuance of the so-called Blue Card.

The amendment allows applicants to submit various documents online. Moreover, the scope of the definition “highly qualified personnel” is extended. The MPs voted to keep the current text in the law, according to which the gross monthly salary, specified within the employment contract of the third-country employee, shall be at least 1.5 times higher than the average salary in the Republic of Bulgaria. The bill is expected to be voted in plenary later this week.
