Four people have been charged as part of the investigation into the cryptocurrency platform Nexo, said the Director of the National Investigation Service Borislav Sarafov. They are charged with leading and participating in an organised crime group related money laundering, tax crimes, computer fraud and unlicensed banking activity in Bulgaria and abroad. The group has been active since the beginning of 2018 and has developed its activity on the territory of Bulgaria, Great Britain, Northern Ireland, Switzerland and the Cayman Islands.
The Prosecutor's Office has testimony that six months ago, representatives of the cryptocurrency platform Nexo participated in a meeting at the Ministry of Finance with other companies involved in cryptocurrency, said the Spokesperson of the Prosecutor's Office, Siika Mileva.
