Bulgaria’s National Assembly has banned the sale of crude oil transported by sea and of petroleum products, originating in or exported from Russia, which have been imported into the country on the basis of a derogation authorised by the Council of Ministers. The MPs adopted on second reading the law on control of the implementation of restrictive measures.
Exceptions are made for the sale, supply, transfer and export to Ukraine of petroleum products provided that they are intended for use in Ukraine only.
Violations will be subject to fines ranging between EUR 10,200 and EUR 25,500. Fines can reach EUR 50,000 in case of a repeated violation. Supervision was delegated to the National Customs Agency and the National Revenue Agency.
