The Recovery and Resilience Plan, as signed, commits Bulgaria to cut carbon emissions by 10% this year. "This commitment made by the government of Kiril Petkov is not acceptable to us and we will insist that it be rescheduled," caretaker Prime Minister Galab Donev during his visit to the central town of Kalofer

"Shutting down TPPs Maritsa East 2 and 3 and other capacities will damage Bulgaria's economy and the security of the energy system in the country and the region," the prime minister stressed. He added that a new Electric Energy Strategy is being prepared to show the development of the energy sector in Bulgaria in the next few years. This strategy also envisages the construction of new nuclear capacities.
