Pharmacies are short of over 300 cold and flue remedies, some of them antibiotics, said Nikolay Kostov - Chairman of the Association of Pharmacy Owners.

Speaking to Radio Shumen, the chairman of the Regional Pharmaceutical College Evgeny Panayotov added that the most commonly prescribed by GPs cough syrups for children are also not available. "This often happens during the holidays, but this year the problem has worsened because of the wave of acute respiratory diseases," said the pharmacist.

Imports are expected in a few days to start addressing the problem of medication shortages.
