Access to our medical records only after we have given our consent

Medical establishments and healthcare facilities will only have access to the electronic medical records of citizens after they have given their consent, reads the regulation on the functioning of the National Health Information System which comes into effect as of today.

No consent will be required in emergencies when medical staff will be able to gain access to basic data about the patient and find emergency contact persons in their files. The electronic health record constitutes the health information about every citizen, recorded in the national health information system. At this time, only people with qualified electronic signatures have access to their own records.
