When signing the document, the Deputy Minister of e-Government, Blagovest Kirilov, pointed out that the declaration placed particular importance on digitization, as a process with deep effects on societies and economies. The adoption of the document took place during the closing session of the Ministerial Conference on the Digital Economy, which is being held in Gran Canaria, Spain. In the declaration, states commit to work together to promote a safe, secure, inclusive and sustainable digital environment supported by open and free internet.

The presidents of the European Commission, the European Parliament and the Council signed today the declaration on the digital rights of all Europeans.
